Sites and Alignments

Right now the focus of the database is for recording details of ancient sites that have celestial alignments and details of and photos of the alignments themselves.  It currently has two layers, Sites and Alignments.  A site record (such as Stonehenge) will contain a brief description of the site, it’s location and access information.  Each site can have any number of alignment records attached to it.  An alignment record contains a description of the alignment along with an alignment type (such as summer solstice sunrise) and in many cases a photo of the effect taking place.  There are a number of possible effects with any one alignment and a single event at a single site may have any number of alignment records in TASbase (lots of people watch summer solstice sunrise at Stonehenge).

Adding sites and alignments and becoming a contributor

Anyone can add either a site or an alignment record to the database by filling in the online forms which are simple and easy to navigate. Once submitted, new records are screened by a moderator then appear on the live site. If you think you will be a regular contributor to TASbase you should apply for a contributor’s log in. This will allow you to add sites and alignments without entering your personal information every time.
